Rumen Radev’s party Progressive Bulgaria ran its campaign on an anti-oligarchy platform, but as soon as they were presented with the opportunity to create a commission to investigate Delyan Peevski, they sabotaged the proposal.
On 7th May 2026, the MPs from PP-DB (We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria) and Vuzrajdane (Revival) proposed the creation of a Parliamentary Commission tasked with investigating the wealth of the Magnitsky-sanctioned Bulgarian oligarch/MP Delyan Peevski.
Progressive Bulgaria – the party that now has majority in the Bulgarian Parliament, voted abstained. This meant that the proposal was rejected and commission will not be created.
This is important because Rumen Radev and his party Progressive Bulgaria ran their election campaign on an anti-oligarchy platform, claiming they will dismantle the model Borisov-Peevski. However, when asked to put their words into actions, they voted abstained, which sabotaged the proposal for taking actual steps towards achieving what they promised to their voters.
